The "G2" model builds on the success of the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A011), launched in December 2013, which continues to delight telephoto professionals and enthusiasts. The "G2" model was developed to deliver superior optical quality, matching the latest ultra-high-definition digital SLR sensors: it offers numerous improvements, including faster and more precise AF and an even more powerful VC stabilization system. Other features have been added, such as "FLEX ZOOM LOCK", fluorine coating on the front element, and the ability to use multiple teleconverters. This new lens offers unique performance and a premium SP exterior with a metal barrel and enhanced design.

Equipment and functions
Optical improvements for versatility
Three LD (Low Dispersion) lenses completely eliminate axial and transverse chromatic aberrations. The formula now consists of 21 elements divided into 13 groups, the optical results obtained are breathtaking, both in terms of sharpness and detail reproduction.
The eBand lens coating combined with BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating reduces flare and ghosting effects to an imperceptible level.
Further improvements expand the versatility of this lens. Tamron engineering has made it possible to reduce the Minimum Focusing Distance (MFD) to 2.2m, opening this model up to the wonderful field of tele-macro photography. A unique feature.
Capture every moment with clarity and precision
The Model A022 is equipped with a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor with a ring motor that delivers impressive response time and controllability, superior to the previous version thanks to an improvement in the internal firmware. The autofocus speed is significantly improved and allows for precise high-speed focusing on moving subjects. Continuous Manual Focus is still available and allows for focus adjustments to the highest degree of refinement without having to switch back to MF mode.
Even more stable thanks to an improved VC (Vibration Compensation) system
The VC Image Stabilizer now provides a gain of 4.5 stops according to the standards established by the CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) when in “VC MODE 3” position. The A022 model now has three stabilization modes adapted to different photographic situations:
VC MODE 1
Standard mode, the perfect balance between viewfinder stabilization and image stabilization on the sensor.
VC MODE 2
Dedicated to panning mode photography.
VC MODE 3
Prioritizes sensor stabilization (image capture) and sets aside viewfinder stabilization, for greater efficiency (gain of 4.5 stops).
All-weather construction and dirt-repellent coating
The front lens element is coated with fluorine, a material that repels water and grease. This coating makes the lens surface easier to clean and less susceptible to damage from dirt, dust, and other marks. For added protection when shooting outdoors, numerous weather seals have been added.
The new FLEX ZOOM LOCK system allows the zoom to be locked at any position
The FLEX ZOOM LOCK system locks or unlocks the zoom ring at any position by simply sliding it. Photographers can shoot from any angle without the risk of unintentionally extending the ring. The familiar "Zoom Lock" system prevents the zoom from extending when folded and when being transported.

Optional accessories
Compatible with two exclusive teleconverters
Two exclusive teleconverters have been developed specifically for the new SP 150-600mm G2 (Model A022). They offer a ratio of 1.4x and 2x respectively, allowing zooming up to 1200mm in full frame. These new teleconverters extend the focal length of the lens, allowing you to go even further and truly enter the world of ultra-telephoto lenses.
Compatible with TAP-in Console
The TAP-in console, connected via a USB cable to your personal computer, allows you to easily update your lens' firmware and customize its features, including AF and VC settings.
