Coolpix P950

The COOLPIX P950's 83x optical zoom covers an extraordinary focal range from wide angle to 24mm¹ to the super telephoto lens with the 2000 mm¹, and everything in between. Lack of sharpness can be a major problem, especially when shooting distant subjects with a super telephoto lens. With its Dual-Detection Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) technology, the COOLPIX P950 effectively reduces image blur caused by camera shake, delivering sharp images even when shooting distant subjects handheld. In NORMAL mode, image stabilization is equivalent to 5.5 additional shutter stops.¹, a historic peak for Nikon digital compacts².

With the COOLPIX P950, there's no need to wait for your image data to be saved to the memory card before you can continue. Thanks to its improved buffer memory, you can shoot two bursts in a row in Continuous H mode (up to 10 shots* at approximately 7 frames per second). Combined with improved autofocus speed in telephoto mode, capturing key moments and unique photo opportunities has never been easier when shooting in the great outdoors or in scenes where the action never stops.

The focus mode selector simplifies switching between manual focus and autofocus. In addition to the instant-return zoom control and the side zoom control, the side rotary dial is ideally placed for changing shooting settings. In manual focus, the dial is used to focus. In autofocus, it can be used to change exposure compensation, white balance, or ISO sensitivity. For advanced photographers, a PSAM rotary dial is located on top of the camera, as is the case with DSLRs. Choose aperture and shutter speed on the COOLPIX P950 to get photos that are exactly what you expected. However, you don't need to understand exposure control to get great results: the COOLPIX P950 can do all that work for you.
