Technology
-

Internal Zoom Mechanism
With the internal zoom mechanism, the overall length of the lens barrel is fixed. This keeps the lens's center of gravity nearly constant even when zooming. -

Motorized Zoom
The motorized zoom lens is designed with light tracking and responsive response in mind. This feature provides smooth zooming at a constant speed with multiple zoom operation options via remote control capabilities. This ensures comfortable photo and video shooting.
*with some devices, this feature will be supported with a firmware update. -

AS
AS stands for aspherical lenses. This type of lens includes non-spherical surfaces on one or both sides of the glass to eliminate certain types of aberrations. -

Vibration reduction
A built-in Nikon technology designed to improve image stability by automatically compensating for camera shake. Lenses equipped with VR display the abbreviation VR on their barrels. -

ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon and used with normal optical glass on telephoto lenses to achieve optimal correction of chromatic aberrations. -

IF Objective
A NIKKOR lens in which only the inner lens group moves during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKOR lenses do not extend during autofocus, allowing for closer focusing distances from a more compact and lightweight lens. This type of lens is designated by the abbreviation IF located on the barrel. -

Electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism
An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism located in the lens barrel provides extreme precision for electronic control of the diaphragm or aperture blades when using automatic exposure in continuous shooting.
