The 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046) is a fast ultra-wide-angle zoom lens specially developed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. It offers exceptional image quality and a large constant aperture of F/2.8. Moreover, at only 99mm long and weighing just 420g, its compactness and lightness are unmatched in its class. It is the ideal lens for experiencing natural and urban landscapes from a new perspective. The optical structure includes LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens elements that are positioned in such a way that chromatic aberrations are essentially eliminated. A short minimum distance for photos with particularly dynamic perspectives
The 17-28mm F/2.8 makes very close photography possible. At 17mm, the close focusing limit of only
19 cm allows for fascinating shots at a magnification ratio of 1:5.2; at 28 mm, the minimum distance is 26 cm (1:6). In addition, with a wide-open aperture, you achieve a very shallow depth of field and particularly pronounced bokeh. This effect is even more noticeable when you are close to the subject.
Fast and accurate high-performance autofocus
The autofocus system features a sensor that determines the current focal adjustment of the lens and an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor. They guarantee particularly high speed and precision, allowing the user to keep dynamic objects permanently in focus. The ideal prerequisites for successful snapshots. The autofocus then works so quietly that virtually no background noise is recorded during video recordings.
The ideal complement to the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (model A036)
The two Tamron lenses for Sony E, the 17-28 mm and the 28-75 mm, together cover a very wide focal range from ultra-wide angle (17 mm) to medium focal length (75 mm) with a constant aperture of F/2.8. With a total weight of only 970 g, the duo is the ideal complement to a compact mirrorless camera. The models are designed so that the zoom ring is at the front and the focal length ring at the rear. This makes both lenses identical for the user. The lenses also have the same filter diameter (Ø 67 mm) so they can be used with the same filter set. The lens caps are also interchangeable.
