The Videomic is a super-cardioid electret shotgun microphone. It is powered by a standard 9V battery, whose charge is monitored by an LED, and provides over 100 hours of battery life. A switchable high-pass filter is used to attenuate unwanted low-frequency noise. It delivers a microphone signal to the attached microphone cable, which has a 3.5 mm mini jack.
To prevent saturation when recording overly loud sound sources, the Videomic features a switchable pad (attenuator) that attenuates the received signal by -10 or -20 dB. The Videomic attaches to any camcorder with an accessory shoe. It comes with a foam windscreen.
The RØDE Videomic Pro combines a very low weight (85g), a good ABS finish and the absence of handling noise. With good sound rejection from the sides, it is designed to pick up distant sounds located in front of it in line with the microphone, making it ideal for video recording, especially with a camcorder. It is an excellent microphone for videographers.
